This is a 1905 Boosey & Co. cornet that I purchased on EBay, it is extensively engraved, has a rotary valve to change key from Bb to A and features a wishbone design waterkey. The horn was in fairly good shape when I bought it, there were a few dings, a slight crease to the bell and minor finish wear to the silver plating. The valves however were heavily worn and had little compression. After doing a little research on the internet, I sent the horn to the "Musical Instrument Repair Shop" in Byrdstown Tenn and the horn came back looking & playing better than new. The dents were removed, valves rebuilt ( including the rotary ), a new custom leadpipe fabricated and the horn was finished in new silverplate, with 24K gold trim to the inner bell and fittings. The horn plays wonderfully, with the smoothest valve action of the many horns in my collection and always receives compliments wherever I play. |
If you require repair or restoration work on your brass or woodwind instrument
I can heartily recommend " The Musical Instrument Repair Shop ".
